Privacy policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
In short: if you join the Bad Idea Studio mailing list, we keep your email address so we can tell you when the game you signed up for is on Steam and let you know about our new games and releases. If you ask to playtest, we keep that answer too. Nothing else. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click.
Who we are
Bad Idea Studio is the name under which the following company publishes games. The company is the controller of your personal data:
MIDAZ GROUP SPÓŁKA Z OGRANICZONĄ ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCIĄul. Polna 10, 59-160 Radwanice, Poland
NIP (tax ID): 5020124096
KRS (company register): 0000989140
For anything about your data, write to hello@thebadideastudio.com.
What we collect
Only when you fill in a sign-up form on one of our game pages, for example the Grand Theft Cocoa page:
- your email address,
- which game page you signed up on,
- whether you ticked the box to take part in playtests,
- details our email service records automatically: when you signed up and confirmed, the IP address you signed up from, and whether you open our emails and click the links in them.
Signing up is voluntary. Without an email address we simply can't tell you when our games come out.
Why we use it and on what basis
We keep one mailing list for the whole studio. We use your email address to:
- tell you when the game you signed up for is available on Steam,
- tell you about new games and releases from Bad Idea Studio.
We note which game page you signed up on only so that the emails you get fit what you came for. It doesn't put you on a separate list.
Asking to playtest is optional and separate from signing up. If you ticked the box, we also use your address to invite you to playtests of that game. If you didn't, you won't get playtest invites.
That's it: we don't sell your data, we don't use it for ads and we don't share it with other companies for their own purposes.
The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You give it by signing up and clicking the confirmation link in the first email we send. If you withdraw consent, we may keep a record that you gave and withdrew it, so we can prove we followed the rules. That record is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Who processes it for us
The sign-up form sends your details straight from your browser to Kit, the email service we use to store the list and send emails. Kit processes the data only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement.
Kit is based in the United States, so your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area. The transfer is protected by the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, which are part of our agreement with Kit. Kit also takes part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your data until you unsubscribe, withdraw your consent or ask us to delete it. If you sign up but never confirm your address, it gets only the one email asking you to confirm and we don't use it for anything else. Ask us and we'll delete it straight away.
Your rights
You can:
- withdraw your consent at any time, with the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by writing to us. Withdrawing doesn't affect what we did before,
- stop only the playtest invites and stay on the list, by writing to us,
- get a copy of your data and ask us to correct it,
- ask us to delete your data or to limit how we use it,
- get your data in a format you can move to another service,
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest.
Write to hello@thebadideastudio.com and we'll answer within a month.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Polish data protection authority: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl. You can also complain to the authority in the EU country where you live.
If you're under 16
Please ask a parent or guardian before you sign up.
